Ferry Schedule Changes for Off-Season

Hello everyone, and happy Monday! I wanted to post a quick update regarding the current ferry schedule. We’re heading into the off-season, and the ferry schedules are reflecting that. Here’s the latest…

Varlack Ventures announced over the weekend that its downtown ferry service to Charlotte Amalie will be suspended until November 1st for off-season. The hourly ferry service between Cruz Bay and Red Hook will continue without any changes. The ferry schedule between Cruz Bay and Crown Bay will also continue without changes.

As a reminder, the people ferry leaves Cruz Bay every hour, on the hour from 6 a.m. through 11 p.m. daily. The ferry leaves Red Hook on the half hour in the early morning hours, and then begins on-the-hour service starting at 9 a.m. Here is the complete Cruz Bay-Red Hook schedule:

The Crown Bay schedule is more limited than the Cruz Bay ferry. The benefit of the Crown Bay ferry is that you have a longer boat ride and much shorter taxi ride if you are using it for transportation to or from the airport. Here is the full schedule:

New Restaurant Opens in Coral Bay

I have great news to share with all of you today! Sharky’s By the Water in Coral Bay is now open!

Sharky’s By the Water is located in the former Salty Mongoose space in the Isola Shoppes complex in Coral Bay. It is located beside Surf Club Cantina and in front of Jolly Dog, Zemi, and the 340 Real Estate Co. office.

Sharky’s underwent a nice little makeover since changing hands, and it truly looks great. There’s always a great breeze in this location, so it’s a great place to grab a nice cold drink in addition to lunch or dinner, of course! Check out a few pics:

The restaurant is open more so as a soft opening at the moment, according to its owners, as it awaits new kitchen equipment to arrive. They are awaiting new plates and flatware to arrive too. They hope to fully open soon.

The folks over at Sharky’s are excited to bring new food options to the Coral Bay side of the island, and they plan to add fresh new ideas to the menu soon. Here is what was on the menu Wednesday:

Sharky’s is open from noon to 8 p.m. seven days a week. Want to know exactly where Sharky’s is located? Click here to check out Explore STJ’s searchable restaurant map.

New Music Venue & Event Space in Cruz Bay

Da Event Lounge is located in Cruz Bay.

There are a ton of weddings in town this week, which made me think about event space here on St. John. I’m a bit late to the party on this one, but a great new spot opened earlier this season. Not only is a space to hold events like weddings and welcome parties, but it’s also a great new venue for live music.

Da Event Lounge is located across the street from Hercules Pate in the former Lumberyard complex in Cruz Bay. It is a completely remodeled spot with a water view.

Da Event Lounge has become a very popular place to catch live, local music in Cruz Bay. Quelbe Resurrection plays there often, as well as other popular bands like Cool Session Brass, Klimaxx Band, Icon Sounds and Spectrum Band. They frequently hold full moon parties too.

Quelle Resurrection frequently plays at Da Event Lounge.

If you are looking to hold an event, they can host a variety of events including weddings, birthday parties, and more. There is a site fee that starts at $1,400 for five hours. Prices vary based on day of the week and time of the year. Da Event Lounge does offer a local discount with proper id. (A big thank you for that!)

If you would like to know more about Da Event Lounge, you can check out their website at www.DaEventLounge.com. If you would like to see their live music schedule, you can do so by checking out their Facebook page here or their Instagram here.
