Hello everyone! So I have to admit, I am a social media lurker. I like to know what everyone is chatting about when it comes to their St. John vacation. And one topic that I see coming up time and time again is the Caneel Bay Beach Club. It seems that many of you are curious just how much of Honeymoon Beach is affected by it. Well rather than tell you, I think it’s better to actually show you.
I grabbed the GoPro this morning, and hiked down the Lind Point Trail to Honeymoon Beach. I took the following video around 11:30 a.m. As you will see, it was pretty quiet down there. Check it out:
So what do you all think?

So my question is, for those of us who walk in and don’t want to rent a cabana or chairs, are the chairs set up so walk ins don’t get a prime spot? Can the chairs be moved if that is where you want to sit? It is a public beach, correct? I’d love to know these answers.

Is the beach essentially now off limits in front of the cabanas to the public? It would seem if you arrive before a cabana is being used you should be able to set up for the day?
It doesn’t appear to be off limits from what I saw.
take it down. All of it. not leaving any room for the public.

The beach is for all to use. As I did many times in the past, if a vendor’s chairs was not being used and in a place I wanted to sit, simply move it and sit down. These vendors have no right to claim real estate on a public beach

I have purchased round trip tickets for the shuttle to Cancel Bay Beach Club. We are not doing the cabanas or beach service, but are planning to purchase food there. My question is – can we bring in our own chairs or are we required to rent chairs/loungers?
They do not allow beach chairs on the shuttle. You can bring them if you hike in.
Thank you!

I have no issue with a lease holder operating within the parameters of their lease. We were long time Caneel visitors and we miss the resort.
However, I wonder how many people are going to spend that much money for a chair or cabana for a few hours?

Whitewash video. Why don’t you visit it at 2PM to show the REAL LOOK of what this business has done to the beach! Can’t wait for it to fail and the beach returned to it’s original state for the enjoyment of all visitors again.
Hi Rick! Don’t kill the messenger. 🙂 I simply took a video of what I saw and shared it with all of you.
I took this video at 11:30 a.m. last Tuesday when I was hiking the trail. I went by another afternoon, around 3 p.m., and it was pretty quiet that day too. It was the last business – Bikinis on the Beach – that attracted hundreds of people each day, and had chairs and carport-looking structures everywhere. Not too many seem to be patronizing this one from the two times I hiked through this month, which means very few chairs on the beach because very few people are choosing to pay $150 for them.
